The facility will be built in the municipality of Talcahuano in the Bio-Bío region. The site is located not far from the town of Concepción, approximately midway between the "salmon capital" of Puerto Montt and the capital, Santiago.

A company called Bordemar, which the Israeli recirculating aquaculture systems builder and operator AquaMaof has invested in, will be responsible for the plans.

The cost of the development is US$45 million and the plant will be able to produce 4,000 tonnes of fish at five kilograms in its first year, rising to 24,000 tonnes by the third year.

The plant will consist of 51 vessels and will use salt water, 99.8% of which will be recycled.

There will also be a slaughterhouse and processing plant connected to the plant.
