A 9.2 billion rand high-tech prawn farm, covering 1200 ha is to be established at Coega in South Africa. The project is a cooperation between China Direct and Sea Ark of South Africa. Some 11.000 people will eventually be employed. A similar venture is also planned for Zhanjiang in China, through a partnership agreement.

Trout's escape revealed by photographer  2007-12-13
The owners of a trout farm were left baffled when fish were going missing. But then a wildlife photographer caught their extraordinary escape route on camera. He pictured the trout making giant leaps out of their pond straight into the metal feed pipe three feet above the water level. They then fought against the current for 30 feet until they reached the end of the eight inch wide pipe, which emerges underwater in a tributary of the River Itchen near Alresford, Hants.

The AQUA NOR FORUM 2007 is the first of a new type of event, organised by the European Aquaculture Society (EAS) every second AQUA NOR, that provides a forum for science, industry, consumers and policy makers to review developments in the aquaculture sector and to discuss the key issues that affect those developments. EAS will organise its Aquaculture Europe International conference in Trondheim every four years, starting from 2009.
 
World smallest oxygen sensor for biotelemetry!  2007-06-06
Three members of AquaCircle, has developed the smallest oxygen sensor for biotelemetry that is commercially available. LoligoSystems of Denmark now offer a new miniature acoustic dissolved oxygen transmitter for fish telemetry or any other application with a need for limited size, low maintenance and long battery life.
